It is not a seafood restaurant so if you are looking for lobster or crab, you'll have to go elsewhere. But for a traditional and authentic meal, look no further. This place is simply great. There is a basic menu with common dishes that you find everywhere else but there are also a few interesting dishes too. I tried the deer meat. Don't remember the exact name of the dish but it's there if you look. Simply put - it was fantastic. I also had the fried quail, which in my opinion, also fantastic. It's not on the menu but written on a piece of paper posted on the wall in English & Chinese. The flavor is similar to that of roast duck. The quail itself is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. Each order comes in 4 pieces (2 drumsticks with 2 bodies). Although small, they are quite meaty and very tasty. This is mostly served as an appetizer so one order could serve 2 people easily.
Another dish I totally love is the House Special Fried Rice. Yes - fried rice; but not your typical Yang Chow fried rice. It has bits of crab meat & scallops in it with egg whites on top giving it a flavor this is to die for. To me - this is the Best Fried Rice dish I've ever had, and believe me - I've had plenty. Although this dish is a bit pricey, it is very well worth the $10 or so.
I could go on and on about Har Lam Kee but you won't truly know what I mean until you try it. Even though the House Special Fried Rice dish is on the expensive side, everything else on the menu is very reasonable. The service is friendly & swift, the hostess at the front is nice and the food is very... tasty. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Chinese Food. Do yourself a favor and try it next time you're in the neighborhood. It's crowded but you seldom have to wait for a table.
